1. Pole 101: What to Expect on Day One

First things first, let’s debunk some myths. Pole dancing is not reserved for a select few, you don’t need to be fit or strong, nor able to touch your toes, you don’t need to be coordinated. Pole is Everybody and Every Body is perfect for pole. No matter your fitness level, age, or background, pole is perfect for you.

On your first day, expect a warm welcome, a dash of excitement, and maybe a sprinkle of nerves – all part of the pole initiation! And expect to be challenged. Remember, you’re on a metal, vertical pole. It’s so different to anything else you may have done. It takes 4-5 classes before your body starts to understand what to do. From there there will be no stopping you & you’ll be spinning like a pro in no time.

2. Dress the Part: What to Wear (and What Not to Wear)

Comfort is key! You can wear leggings however fabric doesn’t grip so it’ll be a slippery ride. Opt for shorts, a sports bra and tank top to ensure maximum skin grip on the pole. Leave the lotion for after the class, and ditch the jewelry.

3. The Grip: Because You’re About to Defy Gravity

You’ll quickly learn that grip is your best friend. Before class, avoid moisturising your hands – we want them to be as sticky as possible. Don’t worry; it’s not as daunting as it sounds. Soon, you’ll be clinging to that pole like a pro.

4. Embrace the Burn: Building Strength and Confidence

Pole dancing is a full-body workout disguised as a dance form. Get ready to engage muscles you didn’t know existed! The burn is your body’s way of saying, “Hey, we’re sculpting something beautiful here!” Embrace it; you’re on the path to strength and confidence.

5. Master the Basics: Spins, Grips, and Sassy Struts

Start with the fundamentals. Master the basic spins, explore different grips, and throw in a sassy strut or two. Every move builds on the last, creating a dance that’s uniquely yours. Don’t be afraid to express yourself – your journey, your style!

6. Support System: Your Fellow Pole Pals

Pole dancing is not just a solo act; it’s a community. Your fellow pole enthusiasts are your biggest cheerleaders. Embrace the support system, share your victories (and hilarious falls), and revel in the camaraderie that makes pole dancing so special

7. Patience, Persistence, and Pole Goals

Like any skill, pole dancing takes time to master. Be patient with yourself, celebrate small victories, and set realistic pole goals. Whether it’s conquering a tricky spin or perfecting a fluid transition, each achievement is a step closer to your pole prowess.
